F W. 2 0 1 2

With my very first fashion week kicking off in just a few days I can't help but feel overly inspired when it comes to fashion in general, and more specifically the runway shows themselves. I went a little crazy on style.com and virtually stalked all my favourite designers, revisiting their latest collection and re-wiping the drool off my chin. In lieu of Winter being practically on top of us I thought I'd pick my favourite looks from the Northern Hemisphere's F/W shows, which ironically will not be available for us until winter is long over and us Australian's are reaching for our short shorts. My two favourite shows this year were Alexander McQueen, who lets face it is always in the top two every season, and Jil Sander. Both these designers showed a love for all things big, I've always had a penchant for over sized coats so it was a delight to see the models swathed in clouds of fluff in McQueen and draped in confectionery delights at Sander. I don't know about you guys but I am certainly not over the pastel trend. A few other designers that deserve to be mentioned are Balenciaga who again showcased quite a few oversized jackets, Dolce & Gabbana who always blow me away with their beautiful prints, Burberry with their impeccable eye for details, Chanel who somehow manages to make me fall in love with tweed again and again and surprisingly The Row, who would have thought beneath the media frenzy MK & A are actually kinda talented?
Anywho, I'll stop talking and let you all simply enjoy the pretty clothes!

T R E N D Y.

Blouse; Chicabooti. Pants; Ally. Shoes; Unknown.

I've never been one to follow fashion trends, with the exception of the maxi skirt which I took up wholeheartedly. In fact when it comes to trends I can be a little bit obnoxious, refusing to wear something just because everyone else is. But when I saw the floral print pant trend despite the fact that every blogger under the sun currently owns a pair, I couldn't resist. I've never been a huge fan of print but there is something about the rather odd combination of large, bright prints and pants that just gets me. Normally we associate print pieces with blouses or dresses and pants are reserved for quiet denims and neutrals. I personally think it's time we let our pants speak up and I'd much prefer if mine do so in fashionable florals. Once I opted for this bright print there was no way I could allow it to be toned down with a simple black blouse, I grabbed the loudest colour I could find and teamed them together and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I think the colours work so harmoniously together and instead of the two pieces clamoring for attention they coexist in the same vibrant environment quite happily. With so much colour on it's easy to have a fantastic day, especially when you're spending it driving around with your family searching for beautiful spots like this old church. I tell you, days like this make all the bad ones worth it.
