B R I G H T. S U N S H I N E Y. D A Y

Dress; Lovely Girl. Necklace; Vintage. Shoes; Unknown.

I cannot believe that these photos were taken less than a week ago. I guess it just goes to show how the weather really can chance in the blink of an eye, one minute you're wearing gorgeous summer dresses the next you're curled up in bed with a cup of tea desperately trying to keep warm. I think I must have foreseen the bad weather ahead and clung to summer with all I had left because I really went all out with my 'summer look'. I'm normally not a huge fan of sandals, but these lovely tan ones are just the perfect addition to any summer outfit and the gold buckles were an exact match with my vintage glomesh necklace, so the choice was obvious! Even though I love rugging up in fluffy cardigans and ankle booties, a small part of me will miss bright, sunshiney days like this. I first bought this dress to wear to the Tony Bianco blogger showing which was October last year and I literally haven't worn it since, a dress this beautiful can't just be worn anywhere. A dress like this can only be worn on the most sublime days and can only be worn for occasions such as basking, loitering, sipping coffee and pondering the meaning of life. Because we all need special dresses for pondering the meaning of life right?
Stay tuned for our LMFF updates, this time next week I'll be in Melbourne! So exciting!

V E R S A T I L E.

Shorts; General Pants Co. Belt and trench coat; Vintage. Hat; Jay Jays. Shoes; Rubi Shoes

After what feels like years, but has most likely only been a few weeks, the search for the perfect akubra hat comes to a halt. I have been combing everywhere, including nearly the entire city of Melbourne, for a hat just like this, but the only ones I managed to find had price tags that were far too hefty for my little bank account. Two days ago I walked into my local JayJays and low and behold what did I find? The perfect maroon akubra hat.
So now, of course, it's a permanent installment on my head only coming off for showers and sleep, I'm too afraid to take it off in case it disappears into the hat abyss. Not really, but being serious it's scary the amount of things this hat goes with. The colour is super easy to match and the style allows it be either really casual or quite dressy. Which I suppose is the most you can hope for out of the humble accessory; versatility. And lately with this weather I really do require a quite deal of versatilitiness (I'm aware that's not a word) out of my wardrobe, one minute it's ridiculously muggy the next it's freezing cold and pouring down rain. And with this sudden chill I'm beginning to slowly remember the sacred art of layering, or as I like to call it 'hiding your dorky cardigans underneath your trench coat'. If Jack Frost continues to lurk around I think I'm going to have continue piling on the layers. Uh, hello! Summer? I think you might have missed us.

S U M M E R

Lets just talk about a few things that for me, truly evoke a sense of summer.

Juicy mangoes. Coconut sunscreen. Windows down. Music Blaring. Pretty dresses. Tan lines. Late nights. Sleeping on the beach. Crackle of camp fires. Slap of thongs on the pavement. Doing the quick dash across the boiling sand. Lemonade. Ripped shorts. Hair to your waist. Days so hot you don't move. Sleeping without sheets on the bed. Cicadas as loud as a rock band. Sand in everything. Road trips. Frogs at night. Banana smoothies. Salty hair. Heat. Late afternoon swims. The humble sausage sandwich. Perfectly blue skies. Afternoon storm clouds. Running through the rain. Watermelon ice-cream. Wandering for hours. Love.

I know that basically that sounds like a huge list of cliche's, but we all know that summer is in fact a terribly cliched month...that's what makes it so special. And I hope by reading this terribly cliched list of cliches', where ever you are in the world, you're feeling a little bit warmer. (And yes I just said the word 'cliche' 4 times in one paragraph)
