S I L V E R Y.

Dress; Tattoo. Cardigan; Thrifted. Necklace and shoes; Unknown.

Ever since I was little I've had this obsession with rivers, I think this love was first sparked by a brilliant short story I read in primary school called 'The Silent River'. I'll never forget the imagery comparing it to a 'silent, silver ribbon that threaded its way through the land' and obviously this one line has now forever changed my opinion of rivers. I was super duper pleased when my mum tracked down this little spot right, and was more than happy to shoot this amazing dress right on sunset when the water did in fact resemble some sort of wonderful living ribbon. I will never get over the things that sunlight does to water, I tell you what we live in a pretty amazing world.
I couldn't think of a more perfect place to shoot this dress because the pattern does actually remind me a lot of water, more specifically spots of oil on the surface of water and how the light effects it. I think patterns and clothing that incooparate natural imagery are brilliant, one of the main things I loved about Sara Phillips High Summer collection was her use of Australian flora and fauna as prints. It truly is an incredibly clever way to incooparate colour into pieces without being gaudy, and is something that I'm definitely aiming to use more of in my everyday outfits.

  2. Oh my god this is so cute. The bit under the skirt of the dress adds some fun to the dress (as if the print isn't fun enough), and the red lippy you've got on is asfwgiuegfweo34jbgrieuw. Red lipstick gets me excited. And the bird on the necklace! I love everything about this. We should swap bodies... like in Freaky Friday. You can be a pubescent male, and I can be a well-dressed, gorgeous vintage seller/stylist/photographer/blogger etc etc... you know. x
