Every now and then you come across a collection that makes your heart sing, your wardrobe groan and your credit card weep in anticipation. This basically sums up exactly how I feel about every single piece from Karla Spectic's AW 2012 collection 'Heart'. It takes a very special collection for a girl to be able to flick through and say 'I'd wear that skirt, I'd wear that blouse with that jacket, I'd wear those shoes with that blouse', for me 'Heart' is the be all and end all when it comes to cohesion. I seriously can't stress how much it irritates when I see a collection that doesn't flow, that doesn't mix well and has no sense of 'togetherness'. Every single piece from 'Heart' just makes sense. The pops of colour have been chosen so they can be worn with the bold splashes of animal print, the amazing pop art prints match perfectly with the minimalist trousers and lets not even get me started on the knits. I can't begin to describe how much I love a good knit.
I think the obvious standout about the entire collection is the pop art print. Comic characters are not something you normally associate with good clothing, so I think the fact that it has translated into something so sophisticated speaks lengths about the wonderful way in which Karla handles prints. And the fact that she has turned even me into a devoted lover of leopard print also says lots about her talent.
All in all an amazing collection that I'm incredibly proud to call Australian, I absolutely cannot wait to see what Karla comes up with at MBFW.
To sum it all up in three words; We 'Heart' Karla.
