T H A T S. A. W R A P

1) Never tire of watching models bravely stomp their way towards a sea of menacing sounding DSLR's, it's like rapid gunfire people. 2) Hugs with one of my favourite ladies Mel from Flourished and Sunkissed 3) Just because we're at fashion week doesn't mean we don't appreciate the finer things in life, like icecream. 4) Laser show at Blesse'd Are The Meek. 5) Accidentally capturing beautiful shots like these 'ghost models' made my day. 6) Lisa Ho gown at the MAC Cosmetics event. 7) And another icecream appreciation shot

Wow, wow, wow. What a crazy, busy, whirlwind week I've had! In case you somehow missed the memo I spent all of last week in the city attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and what a week it was! Five days, 18 shows, 6 outfits, 48GB worth of photos and way too much money spent on overpriced food in the rocks. I haven't ever really had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of fashion so it was really interesting to get inside the machine and see how it feels to be on the other side of the glass looking out. It was interesting hearing some of the comments from waiters/waitresses who worked in nearby cafes, they seemed simply astonished at the mountain of colour and clacking heels that had suddenly exploded on the OPT. I was really glad I got to attend this year because rumor has it 2012 was the last year that fashion week will be held at the OPT in the centre of the iconic Circular Quay. I don't know why they would move it because the view we were gifted with everyday of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House was simply stunning, I think even the most hardened Sydney-siders couldn't help but be impressed.
As much as I did enjoy the experience though, there were definitely downsides; sore feet and lack of any food within a reasonable price range was one, but the biggest downer was the fact that the event as a whole didn't seem as 'chummy' as I had expected. Don't get me wrong, I made some wonderful friends, but on the whole some people seemed downright unfriendly and I had to resist the urge to run around and scream at everyone 'Stop looking so damn serious guys, we're not ending world hunger here!' If I ever get to the point where fashion stops being exciting I think I will quit the industry, but for now I am still reeling from the stunning collections and feeling very privileged to have attended such a major Australian event. I have slowly but surely been adding my favourite looks and a short little review for each show I attended on our special tumblr so head on over there, and keep checking for new posts every day. If you can't be bothered looking on our tumblr never fear, I'll be posting little wrap up posts here (Didn't think you were avoiding it that easy did you?)

C O M M U N I T Y

I don't know about you guys but my normal week involves a lot of blog stalking meandering. I stumble across some beauties every now and then. I know we all have our favourite blogs and a lot of the time our favourites are huge with massive amounts of followers, beautiful pictures, amazing writing an above all a to-die-for style. But every so often I stumble across blogs where my first thought is wow. Some blogs just blow me away with the layout, the imagery, everything just works and I'm always completely confused as to why these bloggers aren't on the front pages of Vogue and having girls scream their names from rooftops. So in the spirit of my confusion I thought I'd do a little 'Blogs you May Not Know But Really Should...' post. So sit back, relax and enjoy some amazing, talented ladies (and man).

Ok, so I may be just a little biased here because I've personally known Mel for a while now and have come to love her like a friend. But before I actually met her I remember being completely blown away by how outstanding the text that accompanies her images are. It's not often you stumble across bloggers who really make an effort not just with images but with what they have to say too. You can tell every article as an opinion, is researched, is well written and has been thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar. Watch this girl because she will be huge one day.

The 'model slash blogger' is not an uncommon term in our world and there are plenty of them out there. But what makes Ally stand out from the crowd for me, apart from her amazing cheek bones and impeccable taste in vintage, is her attention to detail when it comes to her blog layout. Whenever I take a stroll through 'Unknown Pleasures' everything is just so damn pleasing to the eye from the incredibly neat and ordered general layout, to the finer details like font, colours and even sizing of the text. Everything is perfect. Really the gorgeous photography is just the cherry on a very delicious cake.

Take a quick visit to Mint Maison, do it right now....Seen it? Now take in account that Nusardel, the owner and writer of Mint Maison, is only fourteen. Now take a second visit. When I was fourteen I was far more concerned with what colour Raben's I was going to wear to school than the SEO ranking of my blog. I cannot even fathom how far this kid will go with the amazing kick start he's already giving himself. Shooting a campaign with Zippora and Mossman Clothing? Done. Media pass for Fashion Weekend? Done. Total world domination? We'll see.

Again, I could be biased with this one since I love this girl to death and spent a whole weekend bunking with her for LMFF. But seriously! I could spend my entire life attempting to achieve the 'all-natural-cool' that April oozes out of every pore and never get there. She's just one of those girls that makes everything look amazing and I could spend hours drooling over her enviable wardrobe. Not to mention the fact that she somehow manages to make you feel like her best friend just by reading her posts. If you haven't visited her blog yet than clearly you've been living under a rock. The Next Big Thing right here people.
